Shout Out To Japan // Heist – Pray for Japan

What up Kids. In the wake of all the change in my life AKA moving my ass to Seattle, I’ve been a bit preoccupied. Suffice it to say the blog has taken a back seat. As I begin to adjust to my new life, love and leisure, I feel it necessary to express a little gratitude through writing. Thanks to everyone back in Ohio for all the love over the years.

Speaking of love, a little Island in the Pacific is in need of some serious international love at the moment. Its no surprise that due to the recent and ongoing catastrophe in Japan, volunteers from the Redcross and Habitat for Humanity among others are out in full force raising funds to provide aide and support. But these are the usual suspects.

Not that it doesn’t make me feel good to give to charity (for about 5 minutes), but I generally am not interested in giving to grand organizations claiming radically rapid response, super superior support, and undeniably awesome aide… whatever. I’m not here to knock RedCross, they are great. And, one of my best friends and mentors happens to work quite closely with Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity. The point is that innovative support is where I prefer to provide my own financial or physical presence. The following is an excellent example.

UK Dubstep DJ Heist along with UKF Dubstep have come together to create a collection fund to support Japanese survivors. The way it works is this: download the track Pray for Japan by Heist, and donate what you can. Now; the money does go to, dum duh duh daaahh… the Red Cross. But that’s not the point. I think this is an awesome way to get those of us with little to spare to put up a few bucks for something we would buy anyway, music. Congrats to Heist and UKF for a successfull campaign. In the six days since the track and collection fund became available, they have raised 1,350 pounds, 135% of their 1,000 pound goal.

Anyway, heres the track and the website if you want to download/donate.

Bless up.
